During the launch of Apple's newest iOS 4.1, a stunning game demo, Epic Citadel was shown to the public. The app was using the Unreal 3 rendering engine, allowing for an incredible level of detail. Epic Citadel isn't an actual game but more of a demo showing off what gaming might look like in the future in iOS. Personally i am very impressed and the future sure looks bright in terms of gaming experience on the iPhone.

Although the iPhone 4 gives 31% more battery juice compared to the iPhone 3Gs, there are still complains about the iPhone 4 battery life. Mophie, the makers of Juice Pack Air, will be creating an iPhone 4 hardcase that will integrate an extended battery pack into its shell to offer both protection and longer use time between recharges, much like what its rival MiLi has done. Personally speaking, this is one of the better looking battery pack I have seen and users of the Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 4 will be able to use any micro USB connector to charge and sync their phones, which should be more readily available than an iPhone dock connector cable. The Juice Pack Air is rumoured to wear a US$79 price tag and should double the iPhone's battery life with its 1500 mAh battery. Availabilty of this battery pack is slated for next week.

Gingerbread as most have already heard may now be just an Android 2.x release, a mid-season upgrade for Android bringing improvements to Android 2.2 Froyo. The new speculations now points to Honeycomb might be just the name behind Android 3.0, a major update that will be more tablet-optimized and bring some enhancements to Android to support larger screens. Samsung, who have just launched the 7" tablet/smartphone Galaxy Tab, has already confirmed some Honeycomb tablets for next year. According to PhoneDog, Gingerbread would slot into a role as the OS of choice for lower-end smartphones, while Honeycomb would be come the version restricted to tablets and "superphone" level devices.

The most popular game in iPhone currently, Angry Birds, is touted for an Android release in the coming days. This is exactly what Rovio, the game developer is saying on the release:

This week, we were planning to run a closed beta test of Angry Birds Lite for Android. Due to the massive response and demand from the Android community, we have decided to make Angry Birds Lite Beta available for everybody through the Android Market this Friday. Please note that this will be the beta version of the application which is still undergoing final testing before official release. Angry Birds Lite Beta is presented on an “as is” basis, and we cannot guarantee its functionality on every Android device. Angry Birds Lite Beta will run on second generation Android devices and upwards.

Android users can look forward to playing Angry Birds on their devices soon.

Now now, this is one serious contender to the Apple iPad. Samsung has announced this 7 inch iPad killer and will hit the market around Q4 of this year. The iPad could be touted as a giant iPhone, whereas the Samsung Tab is also likened to a biggie-sized Galaxy S smartphone running Android 2.2. Measuring 190.09 x 120.45 x 11.98 mm and 380 grams, one could hold the Tab comfortably in one hand for an extended period of time. There are only 3 buttons on the Tab: two for volume and one for power. You also have two speakers (fairly loud), one microphone, a rear-facing 3mp camera with flash, and a front-facing 1.3mp camera for video conferencing. You also have the 4 standard Android Back / Menu / Home / Search buttons on the front, capacitive-style. You can make calls with the Tab, although bluetooth is highly recommended unless you dont mind curious stares. Sporting an LCD multitouch screen that boasts 1024x600 pixels, it is pretty responsive. Processor wise, the Tab is rocking the same 1GHz Coretex A8 / PowerVR SGX540 graphics combo as its smartphone siblings. Remember the HTC Trophy that was mentioned early this year? It has gone MIA for quite awhile and now it's back with a bang hopefully with Windows Phone 7. There have been reports by Unwired that the enigmatically named Trophy has just passed through the Global Certification Forum with European UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/2100 MHz bands. No furthur information is available for this device but will we see a front facing QWERTY keyboard device soon still remains to be seen.

Apple just announced the latest version of iOS, iOS 4.1, which boasts a number bug fixes which includes remedies for the proximity sensor issue, Bluetooth, and iPhone 3G performance. There are also new additions which features High Dynamic Range photos, HD video uploads over WiFi, TV show rentals, and, at long last, Game Center. The main attraction, Game Centre boasts a range of new capabilities for multiplayer gaming including the ability to challenge friends, keep track of scores, and new ways to find games. I would say Game Centre will draw more crowds into the iPhone camp. Look for the update to hit iTunes sometime next week as a free download for your iPhone or iPod touch.

For those who ain't gonna jump ship over to Android or Apple good news, Windows Phone 7 has now been finalised (i hope so) and will be released to the various manufacturers to be loaded into their devices.

Touted as the ''most thoroughly tested mobile platform Microsoft has ever released'', we would have pretty high hopes for it and boy will it have competition, with the current Android FroYo and Apple iPhone 4 to contest.

HTC has finally released the long awaited Android 2.2 update for the Desire. Your phone will receive a notification of FOTA update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G.

After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Build number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Build number). The new Build number after the update will be 2.13.707.1. Update: Android 2.2 and HTC Sense update. Note：Please back up your data first before upgrading your phone. We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. A HTC device running on Android that looks very similar to the Sprint Evo 4G may well be making it's way to the Verizon network. Definately a looker, this device seemed to sport a 4.3 inch display, equipped with a front facing camera along with an 8MP rear facing camera with dual LED flash and a kickstand to top it all off. Unfortunately, we dont have actual specifications of the device yet but it will be make known to you guys once I have the information. I believe most, like me, would love to see this device launched locally.

We have a look at HTC's newest Windows Phone 7 product. A little beast known only as the HTC T8788 at this point of time, it features a landscape slider which reveal a speaker rather then a QWERTY keyboard. It looks like HTC intend to market this device as a media device with the inclusion of a kickstand. Not the prettiest Windows Phone I have seen so far as I would personally prefer a slider keyboard though! Specifications is still unknown for this device. What do you guys think?

There are a couple of GPS speedometre apps for Windows Mobile but I think this app stands out in comparison of the rest. Named as Amigalarm, this application uses the built in GPS of any Windows Mobile 6 devices to determine your speed. This speed is then displayed in this great looking application that even changes the color of the needle depending on your speed. There will be warning light in case if you exceeding the limit speed. The pointer will also change color from green to orange to red if the limit is exceeded. Do give it a try!
