Hey Omnians

For those that have Vista and wish to update their firmware, here's a thought.
(I may update my phone again to try this myself).

Do the usual installation of the WM Mobile Center and the Samsung modem driver.

Before running the firmware file, right-click on the i900DXHG4 file, and select properties. On the General page, click UNBLOCK under Security.
Lastly Select the Compatibility tab, and place a check in 'Run this program in compatibility mode for and make sure you select Window XP (Service Pack 2).
Click Okay to save the settings for the file then Run it...

This may just get around the application crashing when run.

For those that are a bit hesitant to try, I tried last night several times updating on Vista. The firmware file itself crashed as it was attempting to connect to the Omnia, well before it started sending data to the unit.

Just a thought and hope that it helps some of you... :smile:

There are 2 new things I noticed in the messaging app, there is now an option to select messages where you can select All or Several and now when reading a message if you double tap the message text is zoomed in and you have a scroll bar similar to the one in Opera. No screenshots as I have no software installed.

tiwee, what screenshot software do you use? I previously tried SPB Screenshot but I noticed afterward some corruption in my dialler app so havent reinstalled it yet.

And the card reader is very good, recognised a card I got from a friend who works at MS and entered his details perfectly.

The camera now appears to really be silent when you are in Vibrate mode, no sound when autofocusing or when the picture is taken.

For the ROM update, can I do it by 1st Full backup with SPB, then update ROM, then restore everything again? will this method give problems after updating?

just finished upgrading to new rom. 4 files downloaded. advise remove other usb devices when upgrading and plug in laptop batt if using laptop for rom upgrade.

when 4 files downloaded complete, had to manually start the device.

For flashing of new ROM, its best not to restore applications and data from the previous ROM as it may corrupt yr system. Try to reinstall every application and perform a fresh activesync for contacts & calendar or PIM items.

after my upgrade, i encounter 2 problems :

1: End Key Function to lock Device does not work anymore.
2: active sync also does not work anymore...
3: touch screen vibration does not work.
