The steps:
1. Install the Samsung USB driver
2. Reboot
3. Removed most devices that is connected via USB, such as bluetooth dongule, card reader, etc...
4. Connect Omnia with PC and wait for activeSync to get connected and sync finished
5. Start the upgrader executable
6. Checked the two boxes and click the button
7. Click ok then my Omnia reboots into the black background white text "Samsung Omnia" screen.
8. 1st file download starts, it finishes quickly
9. 2nd file download starts, it takes a little bit time, and a progress bar should should on Omnia's screen (green color)
10. 3rd file download starts, seems to finish quite quickly
11. Then the computer will find a new hardware, Samsung CDMA modem, and installs the driver for it, and it should complete automatically
12. After a while, 4th file download starts, afterwards the upgrader will say download finish
13. Omnia will turn off itself... perhaps wait a little while before disconnecting Omnia from PC, as I am not sure at first about what my Omina is doing
14. Then try to turn on Omnia by pressing the power button for a few seconds
15. Luckily my Omnia turns on!
Difference noticed so far:
1. After the animation logo, there will be a Samsung logo in black background for a few moments when start up
2. Storage memory free: 42.76M, Program memory free: 57.79M free
3. More widgets in Samsung widget today plug-in
4. Samsung today 1 plugin
5. One Chinese input method (haven't try yet)
6. Takes a little longer to start up, and make a little "beep" noise after animation and sound

There's a few more widgets available - a cool Phone Book one with pics - a block of 4.
Scrolling in the phonebook is great! Great!
Hey tropolite, are having problems with your touch feedback? After I flashed my phone to G4, the feedback only works on certain area of the phone like the menu.
BTW, the OS I used to upgrade the phone was windows XP pro.

At least you didnt get bricked. I think the evidence is mounting that this update is not ready for prime time and should at least be approached with the knowledge that you could very well end up with at worst an unusable device or at the very least a failed update. I think I will be waiting for G10 before I update
Hiya efjay, did the update on another computer. Everything went smoothly, only difference I have is it only downloaded 4 files instead of 5.
So far quite happy with the new rom, extra widgets, extra programs, faster response (not so laggy).
Will continue testing the new rom, and update on any new findings.

Hi Starbuck - Yeah, not too sure on that - I seem to think its for the scrolling response. It could also be that 4:55am and I haven't gone to bed yet - and I've got an Exchange 2007 training course to do in a couple hours! D'Oh.
Some more new bits...
A business card reader!
Better File/Folder management options
Notes
Tasks (was that there before?)

When u say scrolling response is that because scrolling has been implemented everywhere now?
