Highly recommended to. It's always a bad idea to turn on phone radio during backup/restore, firmware/OS upgrades, etc.

chinese is there, though i am not chinese..

it seems faster, didn't take to long to do. the auto rotate screen is kind of pissing me off with the stupid design they put in, that rotates stops and doest some weird crap.

Hey guys, i upgraded only the pda part.. my company wont allow samsung driver update so i cant upgrade the phone part.. still works.. but i hate the haptic feedback... it is lesser now.. i liked how it vibrates on every touch, now it dont anymore!! is there any registry tweak to change that? i would like the usual one back again..

1.  Install the Samsung USB driver
2.  Reboot
3.  Removed most devices that is connected via USB, such as bluetooth dongule, card reader, etc...
4.  Connect Omnia with PC and wait for activeSync to get connected and sync finished
5.  Start the upgrader executable
6.  Checked the two boxes and click the button

9.  2nd file download starts, it takes a little bit time, and a progress bar should should on Omnia's screen (green color)
10.  3rd file download starts, seems to finish quite quickly
11.  Then the computer will find a new hardware, Samsung CDMA modem, and installs the driver for it, and it should complete automatically
12.  After a while, 4th file download starts, afterwards the upgrader will say download finish
13.  Omnia will turn off itself...  perhaps wait a little while before disconnecting Omnia from PC, as I am not sure at first about what my Omina is doing
14.  Then try to turn on Omnia by pressing the power button for a few seconds
15.  Luckily my Omnia turns on!

Difference noticed so far:
1.  After the animation logo, there will be a Samsung logo in black background for a few moments when start up
2.  Storage memory free: 42.76M, Program memory free: 57.79M free
3.  More widgets in Samsung widget today plug-in
4.  Samsung today 1 plugin
5.  One Chinese input method (haven't try yet)
6.  Takes a little longer to start up, and make a little "beep" noise after animation and sound

The both chinese input (samsung panel that recognize both simplified & traditional and pinyin version of normal input) are cool... No need install other input for chinese already~
i'm using windows Xp Sp3 and my Omnia restart by itself after installation...

but indeed the feedback of the keyboard is gone, i'm agree if not all of the touch has feedback that sometimes i feel a bit annoying, but the keyboard feedback is kinda a good concept. Hopefully can trigger it somewhere....

Hi Guys,

After trying AGIS & MAPKING (with Port Splitter), I have come to this conclusion that MAPKING is the way to go as far as GPS is concerned.
AGIS most of the time take ages to get a FIX. :cry:

Reason for Preferred choice (MAPKING):
You get a FIX withing 15 seconds (atmost). Some times the FIX is achieved in flat 05 seconds. Although you need to activate Port splitter before running MAPKING.

Satelite Data Update
Every 4-5 days you have to update the satellite data. You can do this without incurring any GPRS charges .
Connect to internet via Wireless
Go to Settings>Enhanced GPS> XTRA Enable (make it Enable)
and click XTRA Download.
The data will be downloaded via internet.
Once the data is downloaded, disable XTRA Enable.

Perform above steps every 4-5 days.

Try it out. :whistle:
