Follow all of the steps below and if after a few days if everything works as expected you can try and turn back on some of the optional features I outlined below. If any of you still encounter lock-ups or missed calls after following these steps then let me know. (IamTheGre@hotmail.com)
Step #1. Settings -> System Tab -> Power -> Advanced Tab -> Uncheck "Turn off device if not used for" for both battery and external power and click "ok"
Step #2. Settings -> Personal Tab -> Today -> Items Tab -> Uncheck "Today timeout" and click "ok"
Step #3. (Optional Step) Remove external microSD card
Step #4. (Optional Step) Slider Bar -> Settings -> Data Download Weather -> Uncheck download weather automatically
Step #5. (Optional Step) Slider Bar -> Settings -> Communications -> Turn off Bluetooth
Step #6. (Optional Step) Close down all running programs and return to "Today Screen" (Home)

step 1, may help but that shouldn't be the case. You are just work around the problem, rather than solving the problem itself. The phone is supposed to be able to sleep/suspend and yet receive phone call (GSM is still active when the phone is sleeping)
Sorry, what you have below is not a solution.

The title of the post was "...Fix for Missed Calls and Lock Ups".
Step 1 directly addresses the missed call issue.
Step 2 directly affects the lock-up issue when recharging the battery in sleep mode.
Yes this is a "work-around" for the problem and thus it is currently the best fix there is until the HTC people decide to fix their code.
You said "...The phone is supposed to be able to sleep/suspend and yet receive phone call..."
Well if it was working as designed then we wouldn't be having this problem now would we?
Also how can you tell me that "Sorry, what you have below is not a solution" when you didn't actually try my fixes to prove your statement.
Try not to be so ignorant. Read carefully next time and try to be helpful rather than critical. Your post contained no factual information and wasn't helpful to anyone other than your ego.

a. the problem that you have described, has little or no relevancy to the steps you have pointed out
b. the solution you have offered, is not a fix but at best a workaround
Of course, you or other readers can choose to ignore my thinking, and continue to believe that this is indeed the fix to your problem.
There's no need for me to prove the statement about the design of the windows mobile with regards to suspend. I have researched ailttle on power management before when I developed notif blinker few months back. But the fact (a fact that you can google easily) is device running on Windows Mobile Professional are supposed to be designed to suspend with only the phone application running so that incoming calls, and push mail can still function. Windows Mobile Smartphone is different, but that's a different story.
I owned a Touch Pro before, so I know that my device can work without the 'fix' you have detailed. In fact, I don't think I have seen anybody in Singapore reported similiar problem as you have experienced, so I think if there's indeed a genuine problem, it would be a problem that's pertaining to Sprint ROM. However, as this feature is the most basic and fundamental, I would be surprise that HTC/spritn has missed this out totally when they launch this to the market.
That said, I'm just sharing what I know, and what you could have possibly gone wrong. If you think that's sheer arrogance, I apologise but I also wish you good luck in your fix.

If you need proof of other people with this issue then take some time and read the links below.

The steps I outlined in my original email fixes the problem for me. I realize that you don't see the correlation between the optional steps and how they help but if you read further into the subject you will begin to understand why.

Instead of preventing the phone from going into suspend mode, I would rather explore if there's any running service or start up programs that could have cause the lock up. Then again, I assume you have exhuasted all possible logical troubleshooting and therefore you are resorting to the workaround.
In anycase, I hope sprint would resolve this problem fast because it basically renders the phone no better than a $50 mobile phone. All the best!

If it doesn't, I would simply flash the Asia ROM instead as it would be more of a solution than workaround for the problem.

well, I have never experienced any miss call or lock up when I was owning a Touch Pro.
Regardless, I don't think this would work since both handset operates on different radio frequency. Maybe just flash the program ROM part, and not the radio ROM. but i'm not sure if this will work.

Yeap, flash the ROM (CE) section only if the radio is different, should work. But always do double check with the gurus over at xd first if anyone is intending to do it.
