Dear Bros,
Was getting a little irritated whenever I soft-reset my mini, cos the default input method is the 'Keyboard' and I am a 'Letter Recogniser' guy. No more space to install those registry tweaking programs so I thought I would prefer to do it manually.
Warnings:
- It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO BACKUP your ppc beforehand, bcos any single mistake u enter into your registry for your input method is likely to cause ALL your input methods to be unrecognised = have to hard-reset.
- I insist u check your values SEVERAL TIMES to check if its correct, before u tap 'ok' and soft-reset your device (mistakes irreversible after that except hard-resetting).

Just to share with you guys....
For those using O2 Atom Life WM6 device and trying to set PhonePad to their default input.... don't try this....
After changing the setting and perform a soft reset, your O2 Atom Life will not start up...
I did that change and got this problem. To resolve it, I have to hard reset it.

I try to change the default input to resco pro keyboard, but doesn't work and the input locks and I cannot select or use any input method. I tried this several times and for sure I didn't make a mistake(I copy and paste the correct number from this thread to an exorted registry file for Current User and I transfered it to pda, so there is no mistake).
Because I use the latest version of resco keyboard I think that maybe this number has changed. How can I find it. It's store in some other place in registry. I tried to use and other methods like sipchange program but I cannot change to another input. This registry method I know that works with the default keyboard and the interkey cause I checked it, but I want to use resco keyboard.
Any help will be appreciated

the safest bet is to use the API to change the SIP, and then run it during startup. If there's no such SIP, the action will fail rather than lock up the entire system.

Not all SIPs can be set as default input method using registry tweak safely. Some may cause the device to freeze at bootup, as you have already found out.
