I actually think it is recommended as each time you soft reboot, you clear up any temp files that have been genereated and free up memory, especially if you have been doing much copying in/out on your O2.
Not exactly right. Soft reset does not clear temp files. It helps to free up memory hogged by programs & also recovers from memory leaks.

hmm y do u need to soft rest often? hows yr memory allocation like?
Some Pocket PC users are extremely particular about memory hogs/leaks, so soft resetting frequently is helpful to recover from memory hogs/leaks.

The following applies to WM2003SE and earlier:
RAM = Program Memory + Storage Memory
ROM = OS + Bundled Softwares + Built-in Memory/Storage ROM/iPAQ Filestore
Built-in Memory/Storage ROM/iPAQ Filestore = User-accessible part of ROM, can be used to store files or install programs
Program Memory = Memory allocated for running programs
Storage Memory = Memory allocated for storage, e.g. files, program installations, cache, temp files, etc
In Windows Mobile 5.0, it will be simpler:
RAM = Program Memory
ROM = Storage Memory (Persistent Storage)
