okay guys.
this cab installer ( with remove option at add.remove program )
http://www.mingsect....m/fontpatch.cab
will enable wm2005 to read chinese sms
but not the pocket internet explorer
so those who just wish to read chinese sms can give this a try.
about 3-4 meg of main memory is required ( installation in main memory)

Hi MingSect, how's everything (hope u still rem me). Bro, I've tried the software patch above, it failed and my mini hung and message function can't be accessed at all.. so did some deleting and so far manage to get back on except that there are 3 files (about 9.64Mb, 3.06Mb and 210K) can't be DELETED..And in the remove program list, it still show WM2005 Chinese..and can't be removed from the list..
Now I'm still stuck with these problems and try not to do hardreset.. :sowwy:

Hi, if you just want to simply read chinese on your 818/838/900/atom w/o installing those unstable chinese software (I have to hardreset my 818 pro because of cestar), these are a few simple (well almost
) steps to get it working.
Note: Use these steps at your own risk, though I sucessfully tested on my Dopod 818 pro.
1) Download cestar 2.8 here
2) Extract the zip file and locate the sunglobe.ttf font file
3) Copy this to your \Windows\ directory on your mobile device
4) Add in the following registry:
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\
add a new key call FontLink
Under the Fontlink Key add another key call SystemLink
5) Now add the following 4 "String" values to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink
[Name of value] [Value (in bold)]
Times New Roman \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun
Arial \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun
Courier New \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun
Tahoma \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun
Do a soft reset and you are done.
N.B I don't know is it just me but after you do the soft reset sometimes, the registry changes will disappear. Try to modify some settings (like ringtone) before you do a soft reset, maybe this would make the registry "stick".
To Jshun, don't know if your solution is the same as mine, but I remember you used other font, not sunglobe which is by far the best looking chinese fonts.
Cheers

Hi, I just bought the Atom and will like to read chinese SMSes. Regarding your "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\" folder, I have a problem with finding it. Please advise.
I've searched the directory using File Explorer and could only find the Font's directory but nothing's inside that directory! I've checked the option to show all files but nothing happens. Need soft reset?
Lastly, for the [Name of value], any name will do?
Thank you very much.

You cannot find it in the File Explorer, you need a Registry Editor program instead. Look at some of the free ones available. I have tried the PHM one (is that the name? I don't have my Atom back yet). It works great.
To save some typing. Enter one of the registry font values, copy it, rename the old one (i.e. Time New Roman->Ariel) and then paste back Times New Romain, repeat until you have all four font mappings done.
I will be doing this again when I get my atom back later today...

Sharp Wizard -> Apple Newton -> Sharp Zaurus -> Sony NR-70V -> O2 Atom
