The earphone is connected directly to the CF card. The card does not operate through the pda speakers so you need the earphones to hear and speak. 
overall, for daily usage, you will have to accept the CF card does jut out of the CF slot.
if you are ok with that, then there's no issue. I like my stuff small and neat and I DO prefer to use a normal handphone.  also, the pda has to be kept on all the time for the phone to work, so you will have to operate the pda with screen off when not in use.

I think this hardware is more for people who have no access to wireless hotspot but wants to stay connected all the time. you can log in to check emails etc as long as there is gsm or gprs coverage...(which is 99.9% of singapore!).

Not buying it...but I am interested to test it when you are free....I have figured out a way to use it with Bluetooth Headset so it will not be so clumsy...it may help you to sell it if it works...can also use BT Headset with PPC and listen to stereo mp3 via BT :grin: (Original idea comes from Powerpow....kek)

Hi all, in HK this card is retailing from approx HKD1250 to HKD1600 asking price. Can anyone tell me if the installation and interface can be selected in English? I realise the box is all Chinese language, as is the user manual that I have seen. One retailer here told me there is an English langauge user manual on PDF and I have seen a 'select language' option on the interface. Any advice please? I am running an iPaq HX2750 with the WM5.0 upgrade. I've been told by another retailer that the card works with an HX2790, which will be the same WM5.0 OS as my unit. Any advice gratfully received thank you.

The software MSuite needs to be installed before inserting the Panda GSM CF Card. It is very easy to install. The one I saw Menu is in English. It shld work well with WM5, iPAQ hx2750 shld be okay.

Hi there. Just to say that after a further round of research and price comparison I took the plunge with the Panda PM28C GPRS card. The market price in HK is now HKD1250. The install turned out to be uncomplicated on my iPaq HX2750 with WM5.0. The software suite is really pretty good and it loads contacts from the contact list. I was making trial calls and SMS within minutes. The dialer is very prompt, audio volume is high, almost too loud, but very usable. Strangely tho the card only seems to like the bundled headset and wouldnt work with the spare Moto headset I had. I havent tried yet to make it work with my BT iTech -- tho I know this is the hot topic. For data, you have to pay attention to entering the correct extended dial string in the 'advanced' setup field. And it would be good if it created a one-tap icon in Connections rather than the two or three taps it takes to launch the connection. Using the HK Peoples Phone regular GPRS plan I'm getting performance kinda equiv to the old 56K dial up. Good enough for decent surfing. All in all, pretty sweet. The unit does extend out a bit from the CF slot, for sure. I'm using a dust pouch to protect the CF card, over the top half of the iPaq in its Capdase. Thanks for neat little review of the Panda.

It is a very interesting accessory i must say despite some shortcomings.

PPC Telephony has come a long way.

The first "PPCPhone" was actually the iPAQ GSM/GPRS sleeve which cost a bomb. I bought one before and used it on my iPAQ 5450 then. You can make/answer calls with it even without the earphones and it even has a vibrator. The downside was its bulky size and lack of support for WM2003 OS which came out then. It can only run on PPC2002 OS. There was no real PPCPhone around in those days.

Later the exp$ Audiovox GSM/GPRS CF Card debutted which I also bought and tried. Then the affordable Panda lately came into the market.

The first PPCPhones to emerge were the O2 XDA and the HP Jornada 920 which failed miserably. O2 XDA was a big success then and O2 became famous. Later HTC/Dopod came up with many models of PPCPhones.

Times flies and my dream all in one PPCPhone HTC Artemis/Trinity is coming.

Using it with my laptop with WinXP OS....my laptop does not have the PCMIA Slot....only CF slot....
