I've just completed a simple theme manager 2 days back, so here it is.


PT Explorer

This theme manager is very simple and has minimal features, but it's a freeware. :w00t:

What is my motivation for developing this application? This is because themes must be put in certain folders in order for Today Settings to detect them and allow you to change themes easily from there. PT Explorer removes this barrier and allows you to install themes that are found anywhere on the Pocket PC, including Storage Cards.

Before I created this app, I was using FunnySnake ThemeKing. It is also able to add in all the themes that are found anywhere in the Pocket PC. However, it uses somewhat like a playlist. So everytime u have a new theme stored in your Pocket PC, you have to update the theme list manually. Well, PT Explorer does not have this problem because it searches all folders on the Pocket PC automatically, even those in deep subfolders, upon starting the program. It will then list down all the theme files (file extension *.tsk) found in the device.

Unfortunately, this software is designed to be very simple so it does not have the useful and fanciful features that theme managers should have, i.e. PT Explorer does not have theme rotation or theme preview features. But most theme managers are not freewares. So, if you just want to change themes easily and not bothered about where to keep the theme files, maybe this app is the right one for you.

Heh...actually, I also really wanted to have such a feature but have no idea how to do it. Once I figure out how to do so, I'll add the feature in. :grin:

Thanks Vicott for this software. About time somebody did it and I am glad you did. Also appreciate your other freeware (the one to use black bar). Keep it up.

Just a quick check...did anyone have any problems with this app in WM5?

Yes. I get an error message although it still change the theme. The error message : "a sharing violation occurred while accessing an unnamed file."

Is it only for version 0.1 or even in version 0.1.1?

Sorry I did not check but it was the version that you first posted. I've now switched to the UI Tweaker and had not tested it yet.
Just tested it on the UI Tweaker (0.1) and it had that message.

UI Tweaker 0.1 is linked to PT Explorer 0.1.1. So the problem is still there. I really have no idea what has caused that error. What PT Explorer does is:
1) Delete all theme-related registry values
2) Use "wceload.exe" to load the selected theme

I am still wondering why it works well in WM2003 but not in WM5. :brooding:
