I've just released my new Pocket PC application. DictMgr is actually a bundle of 4 applications. Among the 4, WordCorrector is a completely new application. See description/links below for a brief understanding of the 4 modules.


DictMgr

DictEditor v0.3.1:
- Modify the built-in word completion list

T9Editor v0.3.1:
- Modify the T9 Dictionary used by PhonePad
- PhonePad MUST be installed for this program to work.

AcronymReference v0.2.2:
- Check up the meaning of some commonly-used acronyms.

WordCorrector 0.1:
- Modify the built-in auto-correction dictionary

I will be working on another app to include into DictMgr. It will be called SpellChecker. What it does is to edit the custom dictionary used for spell checking in apps like Pocket Word, etc. It will be released somewhere this week. Actually, it will be using most of the codes and UI from DictEditor, but SpellChecker will be much easier to handle cos the custom dictionary format is actually just a simple text file and is easier to handle than the word completion list or PhonePad's T9 dictionary. :smile:

I just noticed something weird in the word completion list today. I had assumed the new words I entered using Letter Recogniser to be entered to the temp dictionary (actually it's stored by a background process). Strangely, some of the new words are appearing in the permanent dictionary which is showing up in DictEditor. I still do not have any idea when the words are being transferred from the background process to the permanent dictionary. :confused:

DictMgr has just been updated to version 0.2.



In this new version, a new application has been added to the collection. SpellChecker is an application for you to modify the spell checking dictionary. The spell checking dictionary is usually used in word processing applications like Word Mobile which has the spell check function.

In DictMgr v0.2, there are also minor updates for DictEditor, T9Editor and WordCorrector.

DictMgr has been upgraded to version 0.2.1. The only updated program is DictEditor to fix a bug in text weights being recognised as part of the word. In the next version of DictEditor, I intend to add weight factor in. For the word completion list, each word actually has a weight factor from 3 to 31. More frequently used words can have a higher weight so that they are given the priority in word completion. Currently, there is already a freeware which supports the weight factor. Once I add that feature in the next version of DictEditor, my program will be the 2nd word completion list editor which supports the weight factor.

Oops...looks like I am faster than I thought. DictMgr has just been updated to v0.2.2. Below are the update description for the updated modules.



DictEditor Version 0.4:
- Added Weight factor.
- Modified exported DictEditor file structure.

T9Editor Version 0.3.3:
- Works with imported files from DictEditor v0.4.

WordCorrector Version 0.1.2:
- Fixed duplicate checking.

SpellChecker Version 0.1.1:
- Works with imported files from DictEditor v0.4.

In DictEditor v0.4, you can now set the weight factor for each word. Having a higher weight factor will result in the word having higher priority in the text prediction. :smile:

I just noticed a problem with editing of the auto-correction dictionary. Apparently, after editing the dictionary, the file will be locked after a soft reset so further editing is not possible. :sleep: :brooding:

Here's my temporary solution:

• Launch your file explorer and go to "\Windows\" folder to look out for "autocorrect.txt".
  
• Backup "autocorrect.txt" to another folder, e.g. your Storage Card.
  
• Go back to Windows folder and rename "autocorrect.txt", e.g. to "autocorrect2.txt".
  
• Perform a soft reset.
  
• Go to Windows folder and delete the renamed file (in step 3), e.g. "autocorrect2.txt".
  
• Go and find your backup file (which you got from step 2) and copy this to the windows folder.
  
• The dictionary is now editable again via a word processing software or using WordCorrector.
  
• After a soft reset, the dictionary will be locked again. Start from step 1 if you wish to edit the dictionary again.
