Has anybody tried upgrading their htc touch (black) with the new ROM which according to HTC is only applicable to wasabi? Any differences? is it worth to upgrade?

hi longgy,
from what I know, there is no difference except for the colour difference between the HTC Touch (black) and the HTC Touch (wasabi green)...
so logically speaking, you can be able to use the upgrade thats provided to you...

On the HTC SEA support site, it is mentioned that the Wasabi ROM (1.17.707.2G WWE):
"This ROM is applicable for HTC Touch (Wasabi Green) only and NOT applicable for HTC Touch (Soft Black)."
Strange that they should make such a distinction of the specs are the same. Moreover there doesn't seem to be any seperate data sheet or user manual for the Wasabi version.

Well since the maker already stated there's a diff, there must be a diff! Maybe the Touch interface has a different colour from 1 version to another? :grin:

I dont know about the HTC Touch (Wasabi Green version) but logically speaking, there isnt any hardware difference between this and the original HTC Touch...what I dont understand is if its just released, it should be fitted with the latest ROM...might be just a marketing strategy to market the Wasabi Green version of the HTC Touch...
not really fair for existing HTC Touch users...unless there is another ROM update coming for them...

i'm afraid u're wrong.
the diff between these 2 roms (black & green)
1) as all black touch users might realise it by now, the black rom will delete the cab file away after installing, the green will not. (of cos it can be tweak)
2) the green had a higher radio rom.
these are the two diff i notice after flashing my black to green rom.
& of cos, now some of my icons are green in colour.

What is the higher radio rom version? Radio 02.97.90?

Well, I thought both the black and green devices had the same hardware specifications, so was confused by HTC SEA's instructions on their Web site.
longgy - Must say you are very brave to flash the new ROM in spite of the instructions. Thanks for testing it out for the rest of us... Does this new ROM solve the memory leak problem where program memory slowly drops to 5 MB even though all programs have been closed?
I too would like to know if there is a new ROM update for the Black version.
