I've seen so many repeated queries about how to map one of the softkeys to "New SMS" that made me want to develop a new application to do it conveniently. So, here's KeySwop.



In a nutshell, this application allows you to change your softkeys. In addition, it also allows you to add some shortcuts that are usually not found in the "Programs" folder. For a start, only the "New SMS" shortcut is available. If anybody have suggestions about what to add, do voice out here.

P.S: This application supports all screen resolutions.

excellent software.. Way easier than softkey applet. My only question is how do i remove softkey applet from my ppc after installing yours?

Hi fkfs9,

Just locate the Softkeyapplet.cpl file from your Windows folder and delete it, soft reset after so.

I haven't really tried that application. If it came in the form of a CAB file, you should be able to remove it from the "Add/Remove Programs" applet. If it did not come with an installer, e.g. just a CPL file to place in "Windows" folder, all you need to do is delete the file.

thanks alot bro. Got it removed.

now i have another problem. After removing softkey applet, i cant seem to map new SMS into my left softkey.

I've followed the steps but after i click apply, my leftkey maps to "Phone" despite me selecting and creating a new ink file in my windows folder.

I'm sure another program by the name of "Softkey" exists before this.

However, is this application able to map "new sms" in tmail.exe instead of just the today screen?

The application allows the user to create a new shortcut file that links to "New SMS". Then, you can do anything with the created shortcut, e.g. remap softkeys, remap hardware button, etc.

The reason why I came up with this feature is because there are so many repeated queries on it and quite a number of users have problems with it, e.g. no idea what's going on, or use wrong file extension, etc.

Can you show me a screenshot of what you see in the app when you launch it? I've tested the app in emulator as well as my WM5 and WM6 devices and don't experience any problems. :confused:
