The situation now is that I'm going to France next week
WOuld like to install Garmin for i780
Can someone guide me ?
Cos the local Set i got only have Navfone PPC which only support Malaysia and singapore
Need Help on Garmin for i780

There is a nice 14 days trial France Garmin Map with Reader here

Install it as how you install other softwares, if you are just going to France for a few days, just install it one or two days before departure will do. It is a 14 days trial , but works well. I have tested it on an i780 and it needs NO settings of com ports etc. I have tried the Germany map and can locate place using the search "where To?" function.

You can also installed both the free malsingmap and the France map together at one go. For the free malsing map just name it as gmapsuoo.img and for the france map rename it as gmapprom.img. Put both in the Garmin foldder of your MiroSD card. Go downstairs in open air then just start Garmin Mobile XT (Samsung Navigator) and then goto "Tools" ---> tap on "Where am I? ....the GPS serach will start, after a while the GPS will get a lock and you will see where you are in Singapore on the screen. When in France later you also do the same to locate yourself. You can also do address search for France: Goto "Where to"--->Addresses--->Spell Country ( Type "France")----> "Search All Cities"
For POIs in France, goto --->"Where To?"--->"Food,Hotels..."===> Chose the type of POIs and tap on it
when you are doing POI search in Singapore for French POIs, you need to goto --->"Where To"--->tap "Near" (at the bottom)--->tap on "Near other"--->"Spell city" e.g. PARIS, tap "Done"----->Select PARIS,FRA.,tap "Near Paris", then"Done"--->then tap on POIs type to select.
I have tried all these on my friend's i780 with Germany map and it works. I also tried to do a routing from Singapore to Berlin, the Garmin XT actually tried to do it but gave up as it ran out of memory.. :grin:
The i780 is a great WMPhone for map & GPS navigation as it has a faster 624 Mhz processor and graphic accelerator for map rendering even for large countries maps like Germany and France. Such maps will crawl on other WMPhones.
