Hey gt1122,
Glad to hear that you are finally getting mileage from your investment.
Let us know your thoughts about TomTom as well.
Thanks!

Hi Polyho,
My favourite is still Igo despite the lack of the lack of turn by turn summary.
Sygic would be my second choice because of a more complete feature set compared to TomTom.
But it is really my personal preference.
Check out the following review done by pocketgpsworld:

It is a more complete comparison of the various GPS app alternatives.

Am hoping that Garmin will one day decide to get into the Iphone market and develop Garmin Mobile XT for Iphone....
You are welcome gt1122.
I am just sharing my personal experience because I have gained tremendously from other kind forumners who gave me better insight to the software and hardware I used in the past.
I just want to modify my comments in my earlier post comparing the 3 navigation software with these added comments:
1) TomTom has the best voice guidance among the 3, but the maps seem less detailed. No lane assist.
2) Sygic does everything (including lane asssist). Sygic announces the highway name and exit number when you are on one of the expressways.
3) Igo does everything as well (lane assist), has better visuals and zoom in/out. The thing I just realised was that there is no route summary, like a list of instructions. You can view the entire planned route on the map, but no listing of the roads to take and instructions.
Just my 2 cents worth.

To add to the confusion and the alternatives available, Maction (the company behind Mapking and Papago) just released their version of GPS navigation for the iPhone.
The current release supports Taiwan only.
But having choice is always good.
The itunes link is below:

Hopefully when it is released for Singapore, it will be supported by Malfreemaps and we can get more regular map updates and corrections.

It couldn't hold the gps signal more than 5 mins and keep losing me despite restarting a few times .... It even failed to get a gps lock after a while ... Not sure if it's because today is a particularly cloudy day .. With this kind of performance, i would rate it unusable
Hi gt1122,
My situation with my iphones were a bit better in my car. But in my friend's car, we kept losing our GPS signals.
There is an alternative solution if you are willing to jailbreak your iphone though.
JB does not equate stealing software. JB allows you to install software that apple does not approve in the appstore. Some of the most often used programs on my iphone are from cydia, for e.g., bitesms 4.5, sbsettings etc.
Some guy wrote a software called roqyGPS that allows you to connect to a bluetooth GPS receiver which can hold the GPS connection better than the iPhone. I tried it with the Holux 236B and the Holux M-1000C. Works like a charm.
You can read up on roqyGPS and buy it at the link below
