Solution to why iphone cannot be detected
Posted 6 Aug 2009
I have some occassions where my PC running on Vista 32bit cannot detect iphone in MY COMPUTER. Tonight while playing with the camera, I accidentally discover the reason behind it.
Since picture cannot be managed by iTunes, you need to have some pictures taken and stored in iphone for it to be recognised as a storage by PC the next time you plug in.
I tried it with iphone with no pictures stored and MY COMPUTER did not detect my iphone. Took a photo, plug in again, immediately MY COMPUTER reflects the iphone icon.
Hope the info is helpful. Been finding the answer for weeks and googling does not seems to help. -
Creates ringtones from your music files
Posted 29 Jul 2009
We all know that only songs purchased from iTunes can be used as ringtone in iphone and SG iTunes does not support purchase of songs. Well, iringer is your anwser.
iRinger creates free ringtones for your iPhone (and iPhone 3G, 3GS) from
virtually any music or video file you own. Even YouTube videos!
iRinger exports ringtones to iTunes, so there is no need to "jailbreak"
your iPhone. You will be creating ringtones in seconds. It's that simple.
Note - It allows you to cut your favourite section of a song as ringtone

iPhone Tips and Tricks
Posted 28 Jul 2009
Hope the following tips are useful. I like the tip on Silence a call without the Silent switch
Tip: Turn-Off/ Reset
By holding the sleep button on your iPhone or iPod Touch for approximately 5 seconds, you will be prompted with the shut-off menu, simply drag the slider to the right if you wish to turn off your iPhone or iPod Touch.
To turn do a soft reset of the iPhone or iPod Touch, simply hold down the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appears and wait. Be patient as the iPhone and iPod Touch can both take a while to boot up. This trick will solve the issue of an unresponsive iPhone or iPod Touch most of the time.
Tip: Taking a screenshot
To take a screenshot (a picture of what is on the iPhone or iPod Touch screen), simply hold the home button and click the sleep button. You should see a flash and hear a camera click on your iPhone or iPod Touch. The shots can be found in your camera! This tip is great for showing other people your iPhone functions and apps online.
Tip: Silence a call without the Silent switch
Say you are sitting in a meeting and your iPhone starts ringing because you forgot to switch to silent mode. No need to fret, there is a trick to silence your call and even send the caller directly to voicemail! When the iPhone is ringing simply hit the sleep button once to silence the ringer! Hit the sleep button one more time to send the caller to voicemail.
Tip:Â Safari Tricks
The iPhone and iPod Touch both come with an excellent version of the Safari browser. To go to a specific website, simply touch the address bar and type in the name of the website, you don’t have to type “www.” or “.com”. You can save images you find online by holding down on the image. It will prompt you to save and should you choose to save it, the image will be in your camera folder. If you are done surfing a site and wish to return to the top of the page, simply double tap the top bar to return to the top of the page, the trick to this is to double tap on the clock.
Tip: Keyboard
On the iPhone or iPod Touch keyboard, you can quickly end sentences with a period by double tapping the space bar. This will automatically put a period as well as give you one space to begin your next sentence. To put down something else such as a question mark, there is the slide trick. This trick is done by simply holding down the numbers and punctuation marks menu then sliding your finger to the character that you want, once you release your finger, the character will displayed and your keyboard will be back to the normal letters. Finally, you can access special characters on your iPhone or iPod Touch keyboard by holding down specific letters, this will give you additional variations of that letter. This is a great tip for typing in a foreign language.
Tip: iPhone Ear buds
If you haven’t noticed, the iPhone ear buds are slightly different fromregular iPod ear buds. There is an extra little piece located below the right earbud. This clicker is a mic so you can actually use it as a handsfree headset for your iPhone. Another trick is to click down on the piece. One click pauses the track that is playing on your ipod, two clicks will skip forward a track while three clicks will go back one. It even works with macbooks!
Tip: Force-quit an application
Now that the iPhone is a real handheld computer, it's not immune from the occasional misbehaving application. If one freezes up on you, force-quit by pressing and holding the Home button for 6 seconds.
Tip: Maximize battery life, part 1
iPhone and iPhone 3G models have more sensors than just the accelerometer. For example, they have a separate sensor, situated right above the earpiece, that detects ambient light. The iPhone uses this sensor only once per session, though, just as you unlock the handset. But if you cover the sensor as you unlock the phone, you will trick the handset into thinking it's in a dark room, and it will power down the screen brightness as a result.
Tip: Maximize battery life, part 2
The iPhone's newfound e-mail synchronization abilities are useful, but they also drain the battery more quickly. If that's a concern, under Fetch New Data, set e-mail fetch time to Hourly, and turn Push off.
Tip: Ride the dot-com wave
When keying in Web addresses, the iPhone gives you a very useful .com button that lets you add the four characters in one press. But as with the desktop version of Safari, you can even leave that out: Safari will automatically add it for you. Bonus tip: hold down the .com button; you'll be presented with a list of alternate domain endings, such as .net, .edu, and .org. -
SMS in THD
Posted 29 Apr 2009
When a SMS is sent, there is a pop up message **Message Sent** with sound. From nowhere, the sound function was suddenly disabled. It has happen to me a few times and I always have to hard reset as soft reset cannot bring back the sound at all.
Any advice ? Thanks
